Amy Price
Content Manager, Safetrac
Where did your career begin and how did you get to where you are with Safetrac?
My career commenced in operations and administration within a facilities management company in New Zealand. Seeking growth and new challenges, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and relocate to Australia.
This transition led me to a client services role at Safetrac, where I delved into the realm of compliance training and courses.
This experience sparked my passion for enhancing engagement with our courses, guiding me into the field of e-learning. With Safetrac’s support, I underwent training, engaged in industry research, and attended conferences, accumulating over 9 years in the Content team. Today, I proudly serve as the Head of Content at Safetrac, leading a talented team of learning developers.
What’s your passion at work or what provides you with the most fulfilment?
A key passion of mine lies in bringing compliance topics to life and pushing the boundaries with innovative training modules. I find great fulfillment in troubleshooting for our clients and tailoring customised solutions to meet their unique training needs.
What is something you would tell your younger self when it comes to your career?
I would advise my younger self to explore various roles and industries, providing a broad spectrum of options to identify strengths. Trusting one’s instincts and having confidence in decisions are also crucial aspects to embrace.
If you had to pick your biggest accomplishment, what would it be?
While I’ve achieved significant milestones, including my progression to Head of the team, I believe my most significant accomplishments are yet to come. There’s immense potential for further contributions to Safetrac and aspirations to become a leader in the industry.
Anything else – tell me about what you want others to know about you and work!
Flexibility in the workplace is a non-negotiable for me. Safetrac has not only provided me the opportunity to balance motherhood and career but has also recognised and supported my growth, evident in my promotion. In the context of International Women’s Day, let’s challenge stereotypes, break down barriers, and work towards a world where women are not only acknowledged but also actively supported in achieving successful careers and fulfilling family lives.
Jennifer Koutsivos
Client Service Representative
Where did your career begin and how did you get to where you are with Safetrac?
I pursued my undergraduate studies in Psychology at university with aspirations of forging a career in academia, focusing on research pertaining to financial behavior within the stock market. Upon the culmination of my fourth year, I opted to take a hiatus and re-enter the professional sphere.
Having previously served in governmental roles at Services Australia for two years, I cultivated a comprehensive understanding of societal intricacies.
In evaluating various career prospects, I discovered that the values and mission of Safetrac closely resonate with my own principles. Following a year within our Client Services team under the leadership of Ross, I proactively sought involvement in internal projects where my expertise in research and data analytics could be leveraged for the benefit of our staff and clientele.
Presently, I am in the process of transitioning departments within Safetrac. This opportunity fills me with immense enthusiasm as I anticipate further learning and personal growth within the organisation.
What’s your passion at work or what provides you with the most fulfilment?
During my tenure in client services, I found immense satisfaction in cultivating meaningful relationships with our valued clients. Guiding them through our comprehensive courses aimed at fostering a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace environment was particularly gratifying. As my career trajectory has evolved beyond direct client interactions, my current passion lies in collaborating with our dynamic marketing and sales teams. Together, we strive to extend our reach within the community, facilitating the establishment of compliant workplaces and promoting safety and adherence to regulations.
What is something you would tell your younger self when it comes to your career?
If I were to offer advice to my younger self, I would emphasise the importance of valuing inter-dependency over independence. Nurturing robust relationships with both clients and internal colleagues not only enhances the quality of work outcomes but also fosters career advancement. Additionally, I would counsel my younger self to appreciate the virtue of patience, understanding that optimal results often require time and persistence. Indeed, success is often the culmination of dedicated effort and perseverance over time.
If you had to pick your biggest accomplishment, what would it be?
I draw pride from my resilience amidst adversity. Raised alongside three sisters, my mother’s unwavering support has been pivotal in shaping my fortitude. Balancing full-time work while raising us, she instilled in me a dedication to personal and professional growth, inspiring me to challenge gender norms. Encouraged from a young age, I engaged in various sports, notably soccer, for 11 years.
Nayana Gamage
Application Support Developer
Where did your career begin and how did you get to where you are with Safetrac?
Starting my career with a focus on biology in college, I also grew a strong interest in technology. Despite majoring in biology, I dedicated significant time to the IT lab, refining my coding and programming skills. I’ve worked in different jobs and even in different countries.
Eventually, my journey brought me to Safetrac, where I found the perfect blend of my customer service background and IT expertise.
Here, I help bring client services and technology teams closer together, using my background to achieve important goals Being part of the Safetrac team has been incredibly rewarding. The culture here is amazing, the team feels like family, and our clients are simply wonderful.
What’s your passion at work or what provides you with the most fulfilment?
What really makes me happy at work is knowing that what I do helps make things better. Whether it’s fixing a client’s issue, working with my team to come up with new ideas, or seeing the results of our hard work, each step forward makes me happy. I’ve always had a passion for ensuring our clients have the best quality experience possible, and at Safetrac, they’re truly at the heart of everything we do.
What is something you would tell your younger self when it comes to your career?
Looking back on my journey, if I could tell my younger self one thing, it would be this: Embrace the journey, embrace the tough times, and never doubt your abilities. Every obstacle is a chance to learn and become stronger. Keep believing in yourself, and never give up. Perseverance is key to success.
If you had to pick your biggest accomplishment, what would it be?
One of my greatest achievements is catching up with the latest technology and mastering Safetrac’s system within a short time frame. Before joining Safetrac, I took a break from my career for two years to complete my master’s degree. During that time, new technologies emerged, and my goal was to quickly get up to speed with them and understand Safetrac’s system thoroughly.
I’m proud of the moment when my manager acknowledged that I was the one who grasped the entire system within just a few days of joining. It was a testament to my dedication, hard work, and ability to quickly adapt and learn. This accomplishment not only boosted my confidence but also strengthened my belief in my capabilities to tackle new challenges head-on.
What challenges have you faced during your career?
In my second job interview with another company, doubts about my ability as a woman in an IT Manageress role arose. But I didn’t let them define me. Instead, I showcased my skills and passion for technology. With confidence, I addressed their concerns, proving that gender isn’t a barrier to success. It was a big challenge for every woman who’s doubted in tech. But every woman can succeed in this field.
Anything else – tell me about what you want others to know about you and work!
I want everyone to understand how much my family, especially my husband, means to me. They’ve been my rock, supporting and inspiring me every step of the way.
I also want to debunk the idea that women can’t have a family. I believe it’s possible to balance both, and my own experience proves it. With support from loved ones, anything is achievable.
